When making sales over online chat, you don’t want to talk to just anyone. Some people are ready to take the next steps on their own, while others aren’t interested in purchasing at all.
To succeed, you need to interact with people who are interested in your company's offerings but need a little help moving forward. Live chat is effective, but you can’t completely flip a customer’s wants and needs.
Deciding who to interact with depends on who would be considered an interested shopper for your company. If the business sells a complicated product or service, a potential customer might have to view several information pages before making a decision. Someone who has viewed at least three pages may be a good target.
If your employer is chat-savvy, they will set up systems to notice when someone meets this criterion. The customer is then sent an invitation to chat. If they agree, the conversation is handed to a sales chat agent. Of course, that could be you! You then initiate a conversation and try to make a sale.
Other potential targets would be those who added a product to their shopping cart or stayed on the checkout page for an extended period.
If you are trying to engage with people in Facebook Groups, then it’s best to look for people who are asking questions in the group. This suggests they are interested in the company’s products or services but don’t yet have enough information to decide.
In this case, you can do them a big favor by starting a conversation. Provide them with the necessary information and answer any other questions. With this done, you are in a great position to make a sale.
The next level of people to contact would be those engaging in the group in other ways. If they are sharing content, that’s an excellent sign. But if they like or react to posts, that’s also positive.
These people are engaging with the community right now, meaning the topic is ‘top of mind’ for them. That means it’s a perfect time to reach out and chat.
